- Hamid Adedeji

Visionscape, a sanitation outfit in Lagos State, has restated its commitment to operate in a fair and just manner and in accordance with applicable laws. The company has also said it terminated the contract of 18 of its employees due to a mandatory reorganisation occasioned by a change in its scope of operations.

In a statement sent to THISDAY yesterday, the company said it operates a fair and just system hinged on relevant applicable laws, existing policies and procedures and added that it paid all entitlements due the affected staff.

According to the company, it evaluated all employees in all functions of the business using individual performance assessments as a basis of decision making arguing that the methodology highlighted the core individuals that needed to be retained considering the resizing and right-sizing of the business and unfortunately, in tandem, some employees were affected.

The statement reads in part: “The decision to terminate contracts of some of our employees on April 13, 2018, was due to restructuring of our business following a cohesive change in the scope of our contract and in turn, our modus operandi.”

Its Chief Executive Officer, John Irvine, in the statement said: “We reiterate that the decision to terminate the area managers’ employments was purely a business decision as management reviewed the manpower requirements against the backdrop of the delivery of our current scope. “It was agreed that it is essential to continue working on different business methodologies as far as the scope of the business is concerned, and of course, periodically review the impact of these methodologies on the personnel, policies and practices of the Company.”

“Furthermore, all salaries, entitlements and emoluments due to them upon termination of employment have been paid in full.”
