PDP PRIMARY AND SARAKI
Election primary is the instrument through which political parties choose credible leaders for electoral position. The presidency is the highest position in democratic government setting. Currently, Nigerians are dissatisfied with the current administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari and they desire to make a change. As the Peoples Democratic Party moves to select its presidential candidate, it is important they pick the right person. The PDP presidential aspirants are over seven from the North geo-political region. In the interest of the party and the nation I recommend that some nominees should forgo their personal ambition in the interest of the nation. The choice of Senator Bukola Saraki as the presidential standard bearer of PDP would help to redeem the lost glory of PDP and realign the party to greatness. Saraki possesses the political prowess that would unseat the current administration of President Buhari if allowed to be the standard bearer of PDP presidential ticket. Therefore, I call on the National Working Committee to ensure Senator Saraki emerges as PDP presidential candidate for 2019 presidential election. In addition, I call on INEC National Chairman to direct the returning state electoral officer of Osun State to declare PDP winner of the just concluded gubernatorial election in Osun State in line with the constitution of INEC as cited in section 69 of the act. Section 69 of the act provides that election results shall be ascertained by counting votes cast for each candidate and that the candidate with the highest number of votes shall be declared as elected by the returning officer. However, this provision is subject to sections 133, 134 and 179 of the 1999 Constitution, which provides for the procedure in which a candidate can emerge winner in a Presidential and Governorship election. The idea of inconclusive election is an attempt to rob the people of Osun State in the public glare.
