NLC DIDN’T I SAY IT?

- OYELAMI ADEKOLA – GO AHEAD MAKE ME PROUD CHILE’S WOMAN AND A HALF

Didn’t I say it on this page last week that we should not take these gerontocrats seriously? Haven’t they called off their funny strike after how many hours and what did they achieve? Nothing. Did the strike even hold, as people went about their business looking for daily bread? Mbok, the issue that is doing us now is not minimum wage but a full robust and meaningful self-sustaining living essence for Nigerians. You see why even the government does not take them seriously. They always come out as self-serving and narrow-minded. So in all the wahala we face in this country, is salary increment these ones can see to fight for and then they will be calling out all Nigerians to go on strike so they can increase their salaries? Mbok, what is that if not self-importance? Well we have seen them once again for what they truly are, make I keep quiet before they say I be …

This is my boy o. He has just won the nomination to via for the House of Representatives on the AD platform in his hometown in Oyo State. Like play as we sat in the office the other day staring at our bank balance as a start-up firm, he just said it that he had been nursing an ambition and I asked what. He just blurted out that he wanted to go to the House of Representatives. I just look the small boy, is this one serious? No wonder when we went on a marketing call on the late sage Olaniwun Ajayi (SAN), an Afenifere chieftain, Lami carry wine and as the baba spoke of his pursuits with Awolowo and the issues that pervaded Yoruba land, Lami listened intently and that day the seed was planted. At the end of the session, the iconic sage, laid his hands on lami’s head and asked him to go with the message to the people of Ogbomoso. Well, today my boy has won the primary and is primed to face whatever it is that APC and PDP will throw at him. I am so proud of him for he has made me a godfather now. I can sit comfortable with them: Tinubu, Amaechi, Saraki in the comity of godfathers. So guys, we are in the battle now and we will not relent until we win. Mbok, wait where is my blueprint o? Lami just sign an undertaking that you will not deviate or change the blueprint. He must also give me an undated resignation letter and also promise to give me 70 per cent of constituency project money, failure of which it is over. I cannot shout. I am a benevolent godfather.

Sometime last month, Chile who works with Zenith Bank brought some very powerful women together in a forum she labelled ‘woman and a half’. The idea behind this laudable project was to bring professional women together to not only network but to also share experience and push the need to balance hectic roles of being a woman with all that it entails in modern-day Nigeria.
