Nwosu, Bindo Clinch APC Guber Tickets in Imo, Adamawa
Okorocha wins senatorial ticket
The son in-law of Imo State Governor, Mr. Uche Nwosu has clinched the gubernatorial ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2019 general elections.
The exercise was conducted yesterday in Owerri, the Imo State capital, and Nwosu polled a total of 269,524 votes to win the party’s ticket, according to the Chairman of the electoral panel, Ibrahim Agbabiaka.
Former chairman of the electoral panel, Ahmed Gulak, in previous exercise had declared Hope Uzodimma, senator representing Imo West, winner after fleeing the state.
Also in Adama State yesterday, Governor Jibrilla Bindo was declared winner of the APC governorship primary.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, General Tijjani Ahmed, declared the results at 1.30 a.m. on Sunday.
Bindo’s emergence as the party’s governorship candidate for Adamawa came amidst controversy as the duo of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Dr. Mahmood Halilu Modi, Aisha Buhari’s brother, rejected the electoral process.
Meanwhile, Okorocha was declared winner of the ticket for the Imo West senatorial district.
Okorocha polled 141,117 votes to defeat Uzodinma and Osita Izunaso, former national organising secretary of the APC, who got 1,359 and 24 votes respectively.
