Uduaghan Vows to Turn Delta APC into Election-winning Party

- Omon-Julius Onabu in Asaba

Chairman the newly inaugurated Delta State 2019 Campaign Council and immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has promised to atone for his alleged ‘sin’ of serially constituting a stumbling block to Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru’s ambition of becoming state governor since 2007, by ensuring that Ogboru wins the 2019 governorship race.

Delta State APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election, Ogboru, who personally took charge of the campaign council inauguration ceremony held at of the Orchid Hotel, Asaba, noted that the body would be chaired by Uduagjan, the man who he said had publicly confessed to having been the stumbling block to his (Ogboru’s) governorship ambition in the past.

Speaking after the inauguration of the campaign council at the weekend in Asaba, the two-term state governor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said what the leaders of the APC lacked, and which previously led to the party’s failure, was what he called “a winning mentality”.

Uduaghan, who noted that any party that could not secure electoral victory would remain in perpetual opposition and its members politically irrelevant without victory at election, said he was in the APC to guide Ogboru and the APC in the state on the secret path to electoral success.

He promised to hold Ogboru by the hand and lead him through the path to victory at te next gubernatorial election and thus emerge as successor to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the PDP, by re-moulding the state APC into an election-winning political party.

Uduaghan noted that the APC in Delta State would be re-organised before the election by adopting a unit-by-unit approach as its new campaign strategy.

Nonetheless, two governorship aspirants of the APC, Prof. Pat Utomi and Chief Victor Ochei, as well as the leader of the estranged mainstream faction of the party in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, were conspicuously absent at the inauguration of Delta State 2019 Campaign Council.

THISDAY learnt that members of the group, which has Chief Cyril Ogodo as its factional state chairman, were asked to stay away from the campaign council inauguration held in Asaba at the weekend under the watchful eyes of the party’s governorship flag bearer, Ogboru.
