Charles O’Tudor’s Bitter-Sweet Memories

-

Anyone conversant with advertising and marketing communications would surely know Charles O’ tudor.

In fact, as a brand strategist, many brands had beaten a path to his door.

His emergence was like a bolt out of the blue; everything about his brand-Adstrat- was attentiongrabbing.

He was the toast of many during the advent of GSM companies in Nigeria; and he made waves in branding, positioning and rebranding of many companies in in the country, especially financial institutions.

He was one of the brains behind the popular Calabar Carnival.

His rise was meteoric. He lived a colourful lifestyle that set him far apart from several others.

But suddenly, he disappeared from public consciousness, thereby setting many tongues wagging about his whereabouts.

While the seeming hiatus lasted, mother luck, again, smiled on him when he was engaged by former Governor, Liyel Imoke as his brand strategist during his campaign.

After the election, the brand guru won the bid to brand his home state, using the power of advertising and signage.

O’tudor, as gathered by Society Watch, came back to Lagos set to stage a major comeback to what he knows how to do best.

But it was a kind of tough job for the brand strategist and entrepreneur.

It was gathered that effort to relaunch himself met a wall and this has been his major headache.

Very resilient, in 2017, he held the Charles O’Tudor Brand Master Class Season Two (COBM02) with 460 entrepreneurs in attendance.

The second edition, in 2018, coincided with his 47th birthday. It was a bang with five participants taken to Switzerland for skill acquisition.

O’Tudor began his career in advertising and branding at Shops Bankole Sagie Advertising, where he had a three-year stint as an advert executive.

Later, he became a deputy manager, Explicit Communications (where he managed multinational accounts) before moving to Solutions as client services manager.

In 2001, he founded ADSTRAT BMC, where he has been the principal consultant.

Adstrat, which has handled several accounts, has two affiliates, Axle and Strati.

He is recognized for inventing such phrases as cerebral filtration processes, processed thought to finish, O2ygenation, Re-O2ygenation and O2yculturation as the terminologies employed in its day-to-day branding activities.
