Gernot Rohr Not Good Enough to Handle Eagles, Says Sodje

-

Former Super Eagles defender, Sam Sodje has passed a vote of no confidence on Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr stating that the Franco-German tactician is not good enough to handle the three-time African champions.

Nigeria is to play an international friendly with Pharaohs of Egypt this afternoon in Asaba as part of the team’s preparations for the AFCON 2019 the Egyptians are hosting in June.

Sodje, 39, told brila.net that the pattern of play of the present Super Eagles team is not impressive and despite the fact that Nigeria is blessed with talented players, Rohr has failed to blend the players into a formidable side .

“I have played under top coaches and I can say here that he is not good enough. What has he done that no Nigerian or any other coach has never done? He is not good enough to handle our Super Eagles”, he blasted.

Sodje, who played for Leeds United, Watford FC, Reading, Portsmouth and West Bromwich Albion in England also questioned the presence of six foreigners on the Super Eagles’ list of backroom staff wondering why the Nigeria Football federation(NFF) would allow Rohr have more than one foreign assistant in the team.

“Why do we have six foreign assistants in the Super Eagles’ camp? I watched the team’s training on Saturday morning and I think it is a very big joke for us to have six white men as coaches or coaching staff in the Super Eagles. The NFF has to wake up and get this fixed. The president should fix this because it is wrong and it is a big joke.

The Super Eagles already booked a ticket to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Egypt but the unimpressive performance of the team in the final qualification match against Seychelles has sparked very serious reaction across board with ex-players, coaches and even fans expressing huge disappointment despite the 3-1 win at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
