Foundation to Train 5,000 on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

- Hamid Ayodeji

AMBSAM Memorial Foundation is set to train 5,000 residents of Epe on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), which would enable them to be able to perform first aid treatment on victims before proper medical attention.

Speaking during the fourth year anniversary of six Epe residents who lost their lives from drowning, the Coordinator of the foundation, Gbenga Abass said the CPR project is under construction and issue of training would commence when the project is completed.

Abass said, “The foundation’s target is to train 5,000 people on CPR over a period of three years. The idea is to support the health sector in resuscitating people around them when ugly situations arise. An individual who slumps can still be resuscitated if such a person gets first aid treatment quickly enough.”

He explained that the foundation also aimed at providing social and financial support to the less privileged of the community and to create a scholarship scheme to take care of the educational needs of the victims if needed.

“The foundation was established in 2016 to immortalise the sons of Epe who lost their lives due to their boat capsizing during the 2015 elections in Epe,” Abass added.

On his part, the Managing Director, Epe General Hospital, Dr. Bamidele Mustapha advocated for the government to support the initiative by providing modern equipment’s and infrastructure in hospitals across the state.
