Lekan Fatodu Renews Commitment to the African Child
It’s his birthday today and, coincidentally, this day, June 16, is also the United Nations’ International Day of the African Child, when issues confronting the African Child are reemphasised for desirable outcomes.
But, unlike many people tend to, the reputable development practitioner and PR expert, Lekan Fatodu, will not be indulged in any form of ostentatious rave and merriment.
Rather, Fatodu, who was one of the few Nigerians that swiftly rose up to galvanise support that resulted in worthy donations and scholarships for children affected by the Ita Faji collapsed building in Lagos, has hinted that the day is another opportunity for deep reflection on life and for scaling up efforts that will provide necessary head start for the disadvantaged in the society, particularly children.
Reputable for his predilection for pro-people causes and extensive global network, it’s been revealed that top on Fatodu’s agenda is to facilitate greater support from the international development space to Africa and Nigeria in particular, thereby opening up the country to invaluable skills and resources that will enable it confront its development challenges more effectively.
It has also been reliably gathered that Fatodu, who convened the 1st African Roundtable on Business and Sustainable Development in the British Houses of Parliament, London, a highlevel engagement that played host to the British Prime Minister’s Envoy on Trade to Nigeria, John Howell and the Private Parliamentary Secretary on International Trade, Iain Stewart and other powerful stakeholders in industry and development, is working on delivering something related but bigger in Lagos, Nigeria.
Although, to many who know him, the Master’s degree holder in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster and a certified PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner from London is always at the forefront of laudable ideas, not a few are itching to know the new initiative Fatodu will unfurl soon.
