NAIRA MARLEY– A DILLEMMA

-

You see I have often said that my readers are not social media savvy. Some of them like my egbon, Chike Ogeah, does not even know what Snap Chat is talk less of Instagram story. He will just be looking at the phone every time and be doing text message. The other day, at my play, 3some, he was seated in the executive box and staring at his android phone madam had just bought for him and she had to yab him small: ‘Chike are you going to continue to be staring at the phone or are you going to watch the Play’, laugh nearly kill me. Anyways that is not the story today, it is Naira Marley. So most of you may not know who he is. He is a young musician, a social media titan with millions of followers who has found himself in EFCC wahala accused of money laundering and other sundry charges. He has been in detention and recently secured bail. But feelers we are hearing is that he has not been able to meet the conditions of the bail and as such is still in the Ikoyi prison. Now I do not know how to beg for this case because the law is the law and we are all shouting on the strengthening of the institutions and all. But the institution don catch this one and we must beg. Na our pikin. Mbok, Judge or whoever is in charge, is it possible to waive some of these conditions so that this boy can go home at least until the case has been resolved. Na beg, it is not by force. It is pleading. We know that justice must be allowed to take its full course but at least we can tamper justice with small mercy. So Mr. Judge please consider. This is not one big politician that can muster enough resources to meet the conditions in one minute. Na small amu igbo boy wey don enter this one. Please we are on our knees. Thank you as you consider our plea.
