The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has consecrated four suffragan bishops to serve in the new Anglican Dioceses of USA, and Canada.

It also Archbishops.

Speaking at the consecration ceremony in Lagos yesterday, the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, Rev Nicholas Okoh, stated that the four bishops who were consecrated have been sent to the US to carry out their missionary activities.

He also noted that the presence of the bishops in the US would help bring the gospel of Jesus presented two Christ to Nigerians based in the US, adding that the sending of bishops was not new because it started long ago.

“The reason for the movement of these consecrated bishops to the US is that we want our people based in the US to worship the same way we do in Nigeria. They are used to the ministry here, so when they go over there, they will need to have it,” he noted.

The one of the Archbishops presented and returned for the second term, Archbishop of Enugu, Rev Emmanuel Chukwuma, said in line with the Church’s desire to continue preaching the gospel, there was need for Christians to equip themselves with the gospel and prayers, in order to teach others.

He urged Christians to grow in the word of God, and become hospitable and charitable in order to assist others.

Chukwuma added that the message of salvation is the main thing rather prosperity message.

He noted that there is need for Christians to live by example and allow peace to reign in the society and speak out against evil.

According to him, “As part of efforts to raise the flock of Christ to become carriers of this gospel, in Enugu Diocese, we have Institute of Theology and Training. The institute provides an opportunity to train people and make them very much rooted in the word of God.

“The hope is that when people are rooted in the word of God, they will be able to make disciples of other nations. If you don’t know the word of God, how can you make disciples of other nations, so we teach and organise bible studies for them. So these are the ways we make them disciples of other nations and disciple others.

“Talking about re-energising the activity, we hope that the work continues with God’s grace and power, and everyone comes to the knowledge of our lord Jesus Christ and also make sure that our society is transformed, while ensuring that government does what it is expected to do.”
