Nigeria Doesn’t Need Revolution but Good Governance

- Laleye Dipo

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and governorship candidate in the march election in Niger state, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko, has said that Nigeria does not need a revolution now.

“What Nigeria needs is good governance” Umar Nasko said in a Sallah message to the people of Niger State and Nigerians.

In reference to the #Revolutionnow which created tension in the land last week, Umar Nasko said those behind the issue should have a rethink while the government on its part should tread softly.

“All have valid points while the Government will do well in looking at the demands of the Pros which is about good governance and a good society for all, those against think the language is rather too harsh when especially coming out from an election. “It is true we do not need any revolution but Nigerians need good governance, jobs, quality education, good take home pay and security,” Umar Nasko said in the statement posted on his WhatsApp page.

On the vexed issue of Ruga, Nasko described it as “an unnecessary distraction which should not have raised nerves if government had managed it well and stakeholders inputs are well sought and adequately captured.

“Ruga is a by-word for transit camp, this has been since time immemorial, but Government can do better in future in communicating with the public,” Nasko said He called on Muslims to be resolute in prayers as they mark the Eid-el-Kabir Sallah festival adding that “it is by divine intervention that the problems facing the country will be overcome.“

Nasko also urged the Muslim Ummah to pray for the country’s pilgrims in the Holy Land and especially their safe return to Nigeria.
