AYND Empowerment for Orphans to Hold Saturday

-

For the third time, the Anioma Youth Network for Development (AYND), will hold its annual ‘Back to School Programme’ for orphans and less privilege kids.

Scheduled to take place this Saturday at Onicha Ugbo, Delta State, the empowerment programme is expected to be graced by top dignitaries including former House of Representatives members, Hon. Ned Nwoko and Hon. Joan Amaechi and the Head, Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.

Billed to hold at Amed Hotel Event Centre, AYND’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Frank Oshanugor, said this year’s edition would be an improvement on the past editions as more people have keyed into the project as a result of the awareness and goodwill the project has created within and outside Delta North, the home of Anioma people.

He explained that provisions have been made to ensure that children whose names were received from various communities in the area would be taken care of, at the event as books, school bags and other items are already in place courtesy of the Founder/National Coordinator of AYND, Mr Odita Sunday- Udemaguna.

He hinted that this year’s event would also feature quiz competition among senior secondary school students, adding that prizes have been packaged for winners.

It will be recalled that no fewer than 300 less privileged primary and secondary school children, majority of whom are orphans, benefitted in the 2017 and 2018 editions of the programme.

According to Sunday-Udemaguna, he keeps pushing this initiative because he believes that a life of charity is the best anybody can offer in a society where a larger number of people live in poverty.
