Gists Rise of Naira Marley to Superstard­om in 2019

Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, was one of the artistes that stood out in 2019. Although the year started a bit softly with him pushing out some of his tunes and growing his fan base as much as he could, but a major turn put a hold on his musical career when his alleged fraud case ignited uproar on social media. After a lot of back and forth, he was finally released and that more or less started a new wave of fame for Naira, who back to back released several hits that kept him soaring higher amongst several other shots, who grew incredibly well in 2019. Not too long, with several songs turned to anthems, his music and fame grew largely with a new rise of the fan base fondly called, Marlians.

Naira Marley indeed owned the better part of 2019 as his fame and brand grew strongly gaining weight from his use of words in his lyrics, his creatively attractive dance styles, delicious melody of his beats and the general feel of the Marlian fever. His appearance at Wizkid’s StarBoy fest in the UK further gave him leverage as his dance video from the show went viral and was much talked about.

Into the Ember months, news of the Marlian Fest sprung up with so much hype and drive that the first sets of regular tickets were sold out and other options of tickets were as well selling so fast. His impact wasn’t just only on his growing fans which were rising in thousands on social media and off it, but several celebritie­s caught the fever, as well as 30th of May was now confirmed as the Marlians Day. Naira’s spread was on a high magnitude and that was a full testimony at his sold out show which he humbly left till the 30th of December 2019 and became one of the major sold out shows of the year.

Naira Marley has proven himself worthy of the rewards of his music and his career in 2019 and his wave of followersh­ip has now grown to be the strongest. Into the New Year he is set to take the stage again for a Marlian Fest London this February.
