WIZKID AND THAT UBA PLC ENDORSEMENT
You know people can never mind their business. I just came out of a heated debate where the amount paid to this powerful social force - wizkid by UBA to endorse their LEO was the core of discussions. Figures like N1b and $3m were freely thrown up. The reasonableness or otherwise of the move was also thrown into question. People queried the effectiveness of such a move trying to tie the position to actual deliverables and all. Well, me I did not say a word o, because it is my own that will come out. Me, I don’t like backbiting and that is why I have brought it to the open. So let me say my own: you see, brands usually leverage on each other to penetrate designated market strongholds with ease. Choosing Wizkid with over 10 million followers on social media and one of the most recognizable faces in African popular culture was an expert coup by the eggheads at UBA. This was a fantastic move as it not only captured the imagination of the markets but also I am sure delivered the expected objectives. Seeing the video hit me on social media with Wizzy showing me just how effective Leo can be was very compelling and this is for me a 50-year-old oo, talk less of a teenager seeing his favourite pop cult symbol with the right image engaging Leo. Very forceful. No amount in gold can compensate for this. Well nobody send me o before you guys start thinking that them send me. This was just me bringing the issue to the fore and stating my position on the argument which is still raging as we speak.
