Ex-Customs Topshot, Ibrahim Mera, Not Giving Up on Governorship Ambition
Prince Ibrahim Mera, a former Deputy Comptroller General, Nigerian Customs Service, is described as a rare breed.
The handsome six-footer is also said to be the second most important person in Argungun, his hometown in Kebbi State.
This is by virtue of his royal title of Ciroman of Argungu (Crown Prince of Argungu) bestowed on him over two decades ago by his father, Alhaji Mohammed Mera , the late Emir of Argungu.
His elder brother, Alhaji Samaila Mera, reigns as the traditional ruler of the ancient emirate.
But beyond this, Mera, a graduate of the University of Lagos and son-inlaw of the deposed Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, was adored and respected as a consummate and resultoriented officer when he held sway at the Customs.
Following his disengagement from theNCS in a controversial manner, he has been pursuing his age-long ambition: to become the number one citizen of his state. However, this has continued to elude him.
In the build-up to the last governorship election in the state, he had flooded the state with his posters.
Though he had pursued the dream with determination, he failed to secure the All Progressives Congress’ ticket for the governorship election in the state.
It was gathered that the billionaire ex-Customs top shot did not pass the screening organised by the party, thereby foreclosing his ambition of wresting power from the incumbent governor,
Abubakar Bagudu.
But if you think that the Ciroman Argungu has entombed his dream of ruling the state, you are wrong.
A source disclosed that he again has prepared to give it another try. It was revealed that he had vowed to give it what it takes to achieve his dream come 2023 when the incumbent governor will have served out his constitutional two terms.
