FG Secures W’Bank’s N220bn for Better Education Service
The federal government has been able to secure a sum of N220 billion from the World Bank.
The money, according to the government, would be used for Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA).
The President Muhammadu Buhari administration is also about to secure a sum of N45 billion grant from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) which is expected to strengthen the fight against the out-of school children.
This was disclosed yesterday in Abuja by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, at the 2020 Commonwealth Day in Nigeria.
He said beyond financing, the ministry has designed and would soon begin the implementation of a special project known as the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE).
“The federal government of Nigeria has secured a funding facility of N220 billion through the World Bank, under BESDA to help tackle the problem of out of school children.
“This is a five-year project particularly targeting out of school girls between the ages of 10 and 20 at the secondary school level. It is designed to provide them with vocational skills. The project is also supported by the World Bank,” he said.
