Security Watch Africa Condoles the Army on Death of Former Provost Marshal
Security Watch Africa Initiatives has condoled the Nigerian Army on the death of Major General Hussaini Ahmed, the former Provost Marshal. Ahmed was killed by gunmen who shot at his vehicle along Abuja-Lokoja Expressway and afterwards abducted his sister.
The joint statement was signed electronically on behalf of SWA Board of Trustees by the duo of Chairman, Security Watch Africa Initiatives' Board of Trustees, General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (Rtd), who also doubles as the former Chief of Defence Staff, Ghana Armed Forces and former, National Security Adviser to the Republic of Ghana, as well as Prof. Henri Fouche, who is the
Chairman, Security Watch Africa Conference Faculty and Associate Professor, Stellenbosch University,
South Africa.
The statement read thus "It is with deep shock; we at the Security Watch Africa received the sad news of the death of an Officer and gentleman, Major General Hussaini Ahmed, the former Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army.
"Therefore, we wish to condole his family, the Armed Forces of Nigeria and in particular the Nigerian Army and indeed all Nigerians over the passing away of this quintessential gentleman and senior military officer.
"This is most painful because the late Gen. Ahmed embodied the best in human character, intellectualism, professional excellence and unrepentant patriot.
"He embraced the Afrocentric movement to find solutions for the myriad of security challenges facing the African continent, as championed by Security Watch Africa Initiatives.
"He chaired an insightful session of presentations and discussions at our 16th Africa Security Watch Awards & Conference held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, in 2019.
"With this death which we believe is one - too many, considering how his vibrant and productive life was cut short, we urge the governments across Africa to provide security for the citizens.
"We are encouraged by the legacies that the late Maj. Gen. Hussain Ahmed left behind both as a responsible family man and a thorough-bred officer."
They further prayed that God gives his immediate family, the Nigerian Army and Nigeria, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
