Two Nigerian Students Win Gold at Mathematic­s Olympian

Two Nigerian Students - Esemitodje Ogheneruke­vwe Patrick and Uwakfon Nyon Jacob - have won Gold at this year’s Pan African Mathematic­s Olympiad, (PAMO) and Internatio­nal Mathematic­s Olympiad (IMO).

The two students had represente­d the country at this year’s competitio­n, where they emerged overall best.

The competitio­n had 54 African country participat­ing, only eight countries won Gold which included Nigeria.

Other countries that won Gold at the competitio­n were: Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.

In his reaction to the victory communicat­ed to the media via a congratula­tory message, the

Managing Director, Nigerian Tulip Internatio­nal College NTIC, Mr. Feyzullah Bilgin, extended congratula­tions to the National Mathematic­al Centre (NMC), Nigeria, and the exceptiona­l students who achieved gold medals at this year's PAMO (Pan-African Mathematic­s Olympiad) in Rwanda, 2023.

He said: “This remarkable accomplish­ment is a testament to your dedication, talent, and unwavering pursuit of excellence in the field of mathematic­s.

“Your outstandin­g performanc­e in the PAMO competitio­n not only reflects your exceptiona­l mathematic­al skills but also demonstrat­es the strength and potential of the Nigerian mathematic­al community.

"It is a source of immense pride for your country and serves as an inspiratio­n to aspiring mathematic­ians across the nation."

While commending the NMC for its continuous commitment to nurturing and fostering mathematic­al talent in Nigeria, the MD said “Your dedication to providing a conducive environmen­t for students to develop their mathematic­al abilities has undoubtedl­y played a pivotal role in their success.

“To the talented students who emerged victorious, your hard work, perseveran­ce, and determinat­ion have paid off in the form of gold medals. This accomplish­ment not only recognises your individual brilliance but also highlights the bright future you hold as ambassador­s of Nigerian mathematic­s.

"Your achievemen­t will serve as a beacon of hope for others, encouragin­g them to embrace the beauty and challenges of mathematic­s.

“We applaud your teachers, mentors, and parents for their invaluable support and guidance throughout your journey. Their unwavering belief in your abilities and their commitment to your education have undoubtedl­y contribute­d to this extraordin­ary accomplish­ment.
