Gunmen Abduct Three Family Members in Kogi

No fewer than three family members were abducted by the suspected gunmen in Lokoja, Kogi State’s capital.

Sources told THISDAY that the incident happened on Monday’s night at Greenland community behind 500 Housing Estate, Ganaja in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 9 p.m. on Monday as residents within the community scampered for safety.

According to eyewitness account, the gunmen came with a Toyota Siena bus shooting sporadical­ly with the aim of kidnapping their prime target who happened to be a retired security officer.

The Chairman of Greenland Community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Kogi State, Mr. Paul Atabor, confirmed the incident to our correspond­ent yesterday.

Atabor explained that the incident has been reported to C Division of the Nigeria Police Force and Department of State

Services, (DSS).

He further hinted that the community received a notice from suspected kidnappers yesterday in the morning that they are coming back to kidnap more victim.

The letter cited by our correspond­ent reads: “Greenland community, get ready for us, we are coming to get someone.”

One of the family member of the kidnap victim who never wanted his name to be mentioned because he was not authorised to speak told our correspond­ent that the kidnappers have reached out to the family members and are demanding for ransome to release their victims.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Command, SP. William Ovye Aya, said that the headquarte­r is yet to be briefed about the incident.
