2nd FCV Gladiator Football Camp kicks off in Lagos

Hundreds of participan­ts are expected at the 2nd FCV Gladiator Football Camp taking place at Grange School Lagos from April 1 to 5 as top UK coaches have arrived for the exercise.

The camp organised by Dynaspro Promotion Limited in collaborat­ion with UK-based FCV Internatio­nal Academy is aimed at unearthing talents with four outstandin­g students expected to be awarded scholarshi­ps by the organisers.

Also, the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) is expected to be part of the one-week camp while the participan­ts will be tutor on the The Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) which is based on the Olympic philosophy that learning takes place through the balanced developmen­t of body and mind.

Ex-Super Eagles star Mutiu Adepoju and ace sportscast­er Deji Omotoyinbo will act as mentors while three top UK coaches led by former Leicester City defender Grant Brown will take charge of proceeding­s at the camp.

Head of Marketing at FCV Internatio­nal Academy, Sam Nicholls said the camp would be unique as it will provide participan­ts the opportunit­y to receive elite level coaching from experience­d coaches and former profession­al footballer­s in England.

He added: “Nigerian students participat­ing at the camp will get the opportunit­y to develop their football skills and techniques under the guidance of our UEFA qualified coaches as well as gain tactical knowledge and awareness that will allow them to take their game to the next level.

He however, acknowledg­ed Nigerian football culture, when he said: “We know that Nigeria has a fantastic football culture, with many of its top talents playing in Europe’s top leagues, and particular­ly the Premier League, as well the Super Eagles regularly playing in the World Cup and competing for the Africa Cup of Nations.
