Come May, 12, the sixth edition of the fast growing Okpekpe Road Race will hold in Edo State with the usual excitement. The race which started in 2012 as bronze label event has progressed to silver and is expected to live up to its billing.

As usual, East Africans and other foreign competitors would lead the chase for the over $25,000 prize money. Nigerians runners will also vie for honours in their category just as celebrities will have the opportunities to exhibit their running skills.

Our cover story this week is on the Okpekpe Race which promises to offer so much in cash and entertainment. The organisers have said they are working round the clock to stage another hitch-free race.

This week we have spoken with a star player in the team that is presently sitting on top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table. Lobi Stars mercurial midfielder, Sunday Akleche spoke to us on what his team is doing to win this year’s NPFL title. He also opened up on his football career and future plans. It is an interview worthy of your time.

From our man in London, David Billington comes the usual first hand news on happenings in the big football clubs in Europe, especially the English Premier League. In his column for this week, he has taken you deeper into the mistakes made by outgoing Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger..

In boxing, America’s World Boxing Council world champion Deontay Wilder is tempting Anthony Joshua with a minimum of $50million for mega fight.

He believes the undefeated Joshua won’t resist the whiff of money and the fight he desires badly would eventually hold in the USA between September and December.

We also have for you the latest news on IAAF amended laws that could prevent South African runner Caster Semenya from competing in 800m and 1500m races. The South Africans gender has remained controversial.

As usual, we rounded up with football in Europe. La Liga giants, Barcelona are set to celebrate another title tomorrow at Deportivo La Coruna just as relegation-threatened Southampton must win against Bournemouth today to stand any slim chance of surviving the drop in the English Premier League. This is our line up of stories for your weekend relaxation. Keep a date with us.
