46 DIE OF MENINGITIS IN KATSINA
Forty-six deaths have been reported in Katsina State since the recent outbreak of Cerebrospinal Meningitis in the state, a social media officer of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Umole Elfrida, said yesterday.
Elfrida said in a statement that the state had recorded about 713 suspected cases of the disease. She said the WHO in collaboration with the state Primary Health Care Development Agency and other partners had conducted CSM vaccination for five days to check the outbreak.
“The retroactive vaccination was carried out in four local governments of Bindawa, Mani, Kurfi and Jibia. The exercise was carried out after training of teams and sensitization of the community,” she said.
