Senator Dino Melaye (PDP, Kogi West) and Senator Attai Aidoko (PDP, Kogi East) are among the 67 candidates senatorial candidates whose names have been published on the provisional list of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to contest the National Assembly election in 2019.

Also on the list is Senator Ahmed Ogembe who currently represents the Kogi Central Senatorial district on the platform of the PDP.

According to the list, two term senator Smart Adeyemi is the APC candidate for Kogi West Senatorial district while Alhaji Jibril Isah and Alhaji Yakubu Oseni are the party’s candidates for Kogi East and Central senatorial districts respectively.

A closer look at the list shows that a total of 59 of the 67 candidates are males while eight are females.

All the current senators representing the three senatorial districts of the state got return tickets to contest under the platform of the PDP. They include Senator Dino Melaye (West); Senator Ahmed Ogembe (Central) and Senator Attai Aidoko (East).

Elections are around the corner again. Politicians and political parties are scheming on how to take over power or how to retain power in places where they are in charge, and therefore political shenanigans, propagandas, lies, outright falsehoods and even hate speeches are all on the increase at this time.

These are not the best times for those who value character and decency. I read somewhere some people were calling on INEC to disqualify President Buhari from contesting the 2019 general elections because he doesn’t have his school certificate. Very laughable, how many times will they try the same old trick? President Buhari has been contesting elections since 2003. Between 2003 and now there have been four election circles and Buhari has contested in all these elections.

At no point was the issue of his WAEC certificate questioned until suddenly in 2015 as soon as he won his party’s primary. Those who knew he was unstoppable from there on began to unleash different ludicrous propaganda
