Media, don’t let Ochanya’s case die
I wish to use this medium to appeal to the Nigerian and international media to ensure that the case of the Benue rape teenager, Ochanya, is not swept under the carpet. The tendency is that such cases after being beamed on the headlines disappears under the cover of police investigation or endless court adjournments, and eventually fade away. But I want the media to please rise to this occasion and drag this case to a logical conclusion. The world must know how this case ends, if only to serve as a reference point. Even if the Nigerian media slacks over this, let the international media rise to the challenge to bring the culprits to book, just as they are doing in the case of the Saudi journalist Jammal Khashoggi who was killed at the Saudi Consulate in Turkey.
