Castrate rapists as deterrent

-

It may be appropriate to suggest a law that stipulates that rapists who are caught should be castrated to serve as deterrent. Imagine the case of a 62-year-old businessman, Donatus Deshi, who was reported to have allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl and was on Wednesday arraigned before an Upper Area Court in Kasuwan Nama Jos. Instead of dragging such cases in court for indefinite periods as is usually the case, we should find a fast and drastic way of dealing with it. We all know too well that when a case gets to the police and the court, justice is usually hard to find, so if we rely on them to convict such people to end up with just a few years or months in jail, it breeds resentment and the feeling of revenge. We therefore need more drastic laws on this subject if we are to go by the law, not laws that pamper criminals.
