SDP suspends national officer, Oyo chapter chair

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has suspended its National Financial Secretary, Hon. Kehinde Ayoola and Oyo State chapter chairman, Alhaji Kolawole Balogun.

The party, in a statement issued yesterday, signed by National Secretary Alhaji Shehu Gabam, said the suspension followed their open and televised endorsement of the Oyo State PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Seyi Makinde.

The SDP said the decision was to serve as a deterrent to would-be offenders and guard against gross indiscipline and anti-party activities.

According to the statement, the anti-party disposition of the two officials was unacceptable and condemnable considering the fact it would generate a conflict of interest between the governorship candidate of the SDP in the state whose interest should tower above any other as far as the 2019 governorship election was concerned.

In the interim, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole has been appointed as the acting state chairman for Oyo State pending further notice.
