The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, yesterday, confirmed that the armed forces have stabilised the Baga situation after insurgents contested it but lost control.

Gen. Buratai told a news conference in Maiduguri that the Boko Haram insurgents were flushed out from Baga Town in the northern part of Borno State.

Buratai, who was represented by the Chief of Training and Operations (Army), Maj. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, said a mop up operation was ongoing in the area.

He said, “As we speak, we have taken control of Baga and we have been able to stabilise the area. So Baga is not in the hands of Boko Haram. I say again, Baga is not in the hands of Boko Haram. They contested it but lost the contest.”
