PCN seals 499 phar­ma­cies, medicine shops

Ato­tal of 499 phar­ma­cies and patent medicine shops have been sealed in Kwara State by the en­force­ment team of the Phar­ma­cists Coun­cil of Nige­ria. The lo­cal gov­ern­ment ar­eas vis­ited by the PCN en­force­ment team were Edu,Ilorin south,Ilorin West,Ilorin East,Offa, Asa and Ifelo­dun.

The Di­rec­tor, En­force­ment of the PCN, Stephen Esumobi said the phar­ma­cies and patent medicine shops were sealed for op­er­at­ing with­out reg­is­ter­ing with the coun­cil, fail­ure to re­new premises li­censes, dis­pens­ing eth­i­cal prod­ucts with­out su­per­vi­sion of a phar­ma­cist,poor stor­age and san­i­tary con­di­tions among other of­fences

He said the coun­cil has stepped up its en­force­ment ac­tiv­i­ties across the coun­try to ad­dress these chal­lenges.

He called on mem­bers of the pub­lic to al­ways pur­chase their medicines from li­censed phar­ma­cies and simple house­hold reme­dies from li­censed patent and pro­pri­etary medicines ven­dors shops.
