PCN seals 499 pharmacies, medicine shops
Atotal of 499 pharmacies and patent medicine shops have been sealed in Kwara State by the enforcement team of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria. The local government areas visited by the PCN enforcement team were Edu,Ilorin south,Ilorin West,Ilorin East,Offa, Asa and Ifelodun.
The Director, Enforcement of the PCN, Stephen Esumobi said the pharmacies and patent medicine shops were sealed for operating without registering with the council, failure to renew premises licenses, dispensing ethical products without supervision of a pharmacist,poor storage and sanitary conditions among other offences
He said the council has stepped up its enforcement activities across the country to address these challenges.
He called on members of the public to always purchase their medicines from licensed pharmacies and simple household remedies from licensed patent and proprietary medicines vendors shops.
