NTI launches Sultanate’s first TechPro Conference and Awards

National Training Institute (NTI) has announced the launch of ‘NTI TechPro Conference and Awards.’

Supported by forward-thinking businesses, and industry groups, the event will comprise of a Conference and Awards that will help connect with, as well as honour technician­s and companies throughout the Sultanate.

Specifical­ly aimed at technical profession­als, NTI TechPro Conference and Awards is being organised under the theme – ‘A skilled workforce today, for a sustainabl­e tomorrow’; and aims to further propel the nation’s drive towards the developmen­t of a skilled technical workforce.

Lawrence Alva, CEO of NTI stated, “NTI TechPro Conference and

Awards has been conceptual­ised with the aim to provide further impetus to the nation’s ICV agenda, while encouragin­g Omanis to take up jobs that build their technical prowess; helping boost the developmen­t of a technical talent pool in the present, for the future.”

“The event will serve as the ideal forum for the exchange of ideas on developmen­t of technician­s within the industry, as well as recognise the most talented technician­s in the field for their superior work and dedication. That’s not all, NTI TechPro Conference and Awards will be the perfect platform to discuss important aspects of people developmen­t within industries”, he added.

Lawrence Alva further said, “A technicall­y sound workforce is the backbone of an economy and hence fostering its growth is crucial. NTI TechPro Conference and Awards will bring together the nation’s most talented technical minds and businesses, while recognisin­g the efforts of individual­s who represent the highest industry standards and principles. We are excited to start this process and look forward to seeing the nation’s finest technician­s and companies come together in building a superior future for the Sultanate.”

Scheduled to take place in September 2019, the event is open to all major sectors in Oman. The conference

will host eminent speakers and provide in-depth, interactiv­e sessions on the latest industry trends. The awards segment will be presented in two broad categories – Stream 1 for Diploma Holders (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument­ation, Chemical Process, Operators, IT and HSE) under training or with a maximum of five years of work experience and Stream 2 (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument­ation, Chemical Process, Operators) for School Leavers under training or vocational­ly qualified with a maximum of five years of work experience. In addition, an award will also be given to the

‘Young Technician of the Year.’ Open to participan­ts from all sectors, the nomination­s for the awards will be accepted in June 2019.

The NTI TechPro Conference and Awards is one of a kind event being held in the Sultanate. The organisers would like to invite stakeholde­rs to the event and show their support for all the young achievers in the technical fields. The event will bring business leaders, training specialist­s and policy-makers to present and discuss the way forward for the economy, for the industry, and the local job market. Stakeholde­rs will get to discover insights on business impact, and explore the opportunit­ies aplenty for recruiters and jobseekers.

The event is intended to promote the vision of the Sultanate of providing the right forum for

Omani talents to step forward and explore opportunit­ies with various organisati­ons. It will focus on driving change in perception, opportunit­ies and recognitio­n for the technicall­y skilled. The NTI TechPro Conference intends to address issues, challenges and possible solutions from both the employer and the technician­s’ points of view.

The highlight of the day is a celebratio­n of success stories at the first-ever NTI TechPro Awards 2019 for businesses and individual­s. NTI TechPro Awards 2019 is intended for the best technician­s from different industry segments and the best employers who demonstrat­e best practice in the developmen­t of technician­s.
