NTI launches Sultanate’s first TechPro Conference and Awards
National Training Institute (NTI) has announced the launch of ‘NTI TechPro Conference and Awards.’
Supported by forward-thinking businesses, and industry groups, the event will comprise of a Conference and Awards that will help connect with, as well as honour technicians and companies throughout the Sultanate.
Specifically aimed at technical professionals, NTI TechPro Conference and Awards is being organised under the theme – ‘A skilled workforce today, for a sustainable tomorrow’; and aims to further propel the nation’s drive towards the development of a skilled technical workforce.
Lawrence Alva, CEO of NTI stated, “NTI TechPro Conference and
Awards has been conceptualised with the aim to provide further impetus to the nation’s ICV agenda, while encouraging Omanis to take up jobs that build their technical prowess; helping boost the development of a technical talent pool in the present, for the future.”
“The event will serve as the ideal forum for the exchange of ideas on development of technicians within the industry, as well as recognise the most talented technicians in the field for their superior work and dedication. That’s not all, NTI TechPro Conference and Awards will be the perfect platform to discuss important aspects of people development within industries”, he added.

Scheduled to take place in September 2019, the event is open to all major sectors in Oman. The conference
will host eminent speakers and provide in-depth, interactive sessions on the latest industry trends. The awards segment will be presented in two broad categories – Stream 1 for Diploma Holders (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical Process, Operators, IT and HSE) under training or with a maximum of five years of work experience and Stream 2 (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical Process, Operators) for School Leavers under training or vocationally qualified with a maximum of five years of work experience. In addition, an award will also be given to the
‘Young Technician of the Year.’ Open to participants from all sectors, the nominations for the awards will be accepted in June 2019.
