Exhibition showcasing Belarus’ historic ties with Islamic world opens at National Museum

Muscat – H H Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum opened ‘Belarus at the Crossroads of Civilised Communicat­ion’ exhibition at the National Museum on Monday.

The opening of the exhibition which will run for three months was attended by Yuri Bondar, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.

The exhibition is being held as part of the existing cooperatio­n between the sultanate and Belarus. It seeks to enhance cultural relations between the two countries. The idea behind the exhibition is to enhance the historic ties between Belarus and the Islamic world. Peaceful communicat­ion with the Islamic world has brought benefits to Belarus and the Islamic world including enriching and diversifyi­ng Belarus culture.

The National History Museum of Belarus has many artefacts that reflect the historic ties between Belarus and the Islamic world. They embody relationsh­ips during the past periods between the Eastern Slovak and the Islamic Khilafah through trade between East and West.

The visit will allow the Belarus delegation to hold official talks with Sayyid Haitham and Royal Opera House Muscat. The delegation will also sign a memorandum of understand­ing between National Museum and Belarusian National History and Culture Museum. The exhibition concludes on July 2.
