Agreement signed to establish wheat grain silos at Sohar Port

Muscat – An agreement was signed last week to lease a storage facility for a wheat silos project at the Sohar Port.

According to a press release, H E Dr Fuad bin Ja’afar bin Mohammed al Sajwani, Minster of Agricultur­e and Fisheries, and chairman of the Public Authority for Stores and Food Reserves, and Khamis bin Abdullah al Farsi, chairman of Sohar Flour Mills, signed the agreement.

The storage capacity of the project is 70,000 metric tonnes.

The agreement signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of Agricultur­e and Fisheries and was attended by Dr Rashid bin Salim al Masroori, CEO of the Public Authority for Stores and Food Reserves, in addition to officials from Sohar Flour Mills.

The wheat grain silos project is considered one of the main projects that support the food security strategy and it will allow the storage of wheat grains in a strategic location at the Sohar Port.
