State Coun­cil, Chi­nese del­e­ga­tion dis­cuss pro­mot­ing ties, eco­nomic ex­change

Muscat – The State Coun­cil and the Na­tional Coun­cil of the Chi­nese Peo­ple’s Po­lit­i­cal Con­sul­ta­tive Con­fer­ence (CPPCC) dis­cussed ways to pro­mote and de­velop multi-faceted relations that would deepen par­lia­men­tary and eco­nomic ex­change be­tween the two friendly coun­tries, dur­ing the visit of the Chi­nese del­e­ga­tion to the State Coun­cil.

H E Dr Yahya bin Mah­foudh al Man­theri, State Coun­cil chair­man, re­ceived on Wed­nes­day Chen Xiaoguang, vice chair­man of the Na­tional Coun­cil of CPPCC, and his ac­com­pa­ny­ing del­e­ga­tion cur­rently on an of­fi­cial visit to the sul­tanate, stated a press re­lease.

The State Coun­cil chair­man wel­comed Chen and noted the depth of the Omani-Chi­nese relations en­trenched and deeply rooted in his­tory. He ac­knowl­edged the strong co­op­er­a­tion in the fields of trade, which is an ex­ten­sion of the relations be­tween the two friendly coun­tries.

The visit is part of the 40th an­niver­sary of the diplo­matic relations be­tween the two friendly coun­tries.

H E Dr Man­theri high­lighted the im­por­tance of mu­tual vis­its and their role in strength­en­ing par­lia­men­tary relations be­tween the two coun­tries, not­ing in this con­text the visit of the sec­re­tary gen­eral of the State Coun­cil to China ear­lier. The meet­ing also re­viewed ways to de­velop co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the sul­tanate and China in par­lia­men­tary fields.

Chen thanked the State Coun- cil chair­man for the warm wel­come and hos­pi­tal­ity he re­ceived, and em­pha­sised that in­creased co­op­er­a­tion be­tween Oman and China through par­lia­men­tary coun­cils, has led to the in­ten­si­fi­ca­tion of vis­its and ex­change of ex­pe­ri­ences.

He stressed the keen­ness of his coun­try to con­sol­i­date ex­ist­ing relations with the sul­tanate, and said, “We look for­ward to fur­ther de­vel­op­ment of co­opera- tion be­tween the two friendly coun­tries in all fields to con­trib­ute to the achieve­ment of their com­mon in­ter­ests.”

He ex­pressed his ad­mi­ra­tion for the com­pre­hen­sive de­vel­op­ment in the coun­try un­der the lead­er­ship of His Majesty Sul­tan Qa­boos bin Said, and the sul­tanate’s role in the main­te­nance of in­ter­na­tional peace and se­cu­rity. He added that his coun­try at­taches spe­cial im­por­tance to the strength­en­ing of eco­nomic co­op­er­a­tion relations with the sul­tanate, not­ing in this con­text the high vol­ume of trade be­tween the two coun­tries.

He added that the Chi­nese in­dus­trial city in Duqm em­bod­ies China’s de­sire and in­ter­est to en­ter into in­vest­ment part­ner­ships with the sul­tanate.

The meet­ing was at­tended by Sheikh al Khat­tab bin Ghalib al Hi­nai, State Coun­cil vice chair­man, Dr Suad Mo­hamed Ali Su­laiman al Lawati, vice chair­per­son, mem­bers of the coun­cil, Sheikh Rashid al Shamsi, vice chair­man of Ma­jlis A’Shura, and H E Yu Fu­long, Am­bas­sador of China to the sul­tanate.
