Chi­nese Peo­ple’s Po­lit­i­cal Con­sul­ta­tive Con­fer­ence of­fi­cial vis­its Ma­jlis A’Shura

Muscat - An of­fi­cial joint ses­sion of talks was held on Wed­nes­day be­tween Ma­jlis A’Shura and the Chi­nese Peo­ple’s Po­lit­i­cal Con­sul­ta­tive Con­fer­ence (CPPCC).

The ses­sion was held as part the cur­rent visit of the Chi­nese par­lia­men­tary del­e­ga­tion to the sul­tanate, and within the frame­work of the strong relations be­tween the sul­tanate and China, as well as the 40th an­niver­sary of es­tab­lish­ing diplo­matic relations.

The ses­sion was chaired from the Omani side by H E Khalid bin Hi­lal al Ma’awali, chair­man of Ma­jlis A’Shura, while it was led from the Chi­nese side by Chen Xiaoguang, CPPCC vice chair­per­son.

The ses­sion ex­plored means of en­hanc­ing bi­lat­eral relations be­tween the sul­tanate and China in var­i­ous fields that would deepen the cul­tural, par­lia­men­tary and eco­nomic ex­change be­tween the two friendly coun­tries.

The chair­man of Ma­jlis A’Shura com­mended the ex­cep­tional relations be­tween the sul­tanate and China, par­tic­u­larly in po­lit­i­cal, par­lia­men­tary and eco­nomic as­pects, which reached their peak in re­la­tion to trade ex­change and eco­nomic agree­ments.

He af­firmed the sul­tanate’s keen­ness in pro­mot­ing par­lia­men­tary co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the coun­cils of the two coun­tries.

Chen ex­pressed his de­light in vis­it­ing the sul­tanate.

He said through the visit, he fa­mil­iarised with the Omani par­lia­men­tary ex­pe­ri­ence that would de­velop av­enues of co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two coun­tries in all spheres.

He de­scribed the Omani-Chi­nese relations as ‘his­toric and deep-rooted’.

The ses­sion of talks was at­tended by Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed al Shamsi, deputy chair­man of Ma­jlis A’Shura, Sheikh Ali bin Nasser al Mahrouqi, sec­re­tary gen­eral of the Ma­jlis and mem­bers of the Ma­jlis of­fice.
