Neymar gets PSG back on track

Paris, France - From a deeper than usual playmaker role Brazil's Neymar pulled the strings as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) came from behind to beat Rennes 3-1 in French League on Sunday helping to dispel midweek memories of a European flop at Liverpool.

Hosts Rennes took a surprise 11th minute lead when PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot nodded past his own 'keeper Gianluigii Buffon from a corner before goals from Angel di Maria, Thomas Meunier and Eric Maxim Chupo-Moting gave them a hard-fought sixth straight league win.

Asensio scores winner for Real

Madrid, Spain - Real Madrid moved top of Spanish League on Saturday after Marco Asensio's goal proved the difference in a scrappy 1-0 win over Espanyol.

Its victory at the Santiago Bernabeu may only give Madrid 24 hours above Barcelona, who play Girona late on Sunday, with its perfect record still intact.

Atletico had earlier ground out a 2-0 win away to Getafe.

The hosts were more impressive going forward and in the 41st minute, they took the lead. Luka Modric's scuffed shot landed kindly at the feet of Asensio and he did brilliantl­y to harpoon the ball into the far corner.

Referee Mateu Lahoz ruled the goal out for offside but Real were saved by VAR and then later the crossbar, as Borja Iglesias' scooped finish was denied late on.
