SEZAD launches Duqm promotional campaign in US
Huston, US – The Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm (SEZAD) launched a promotional campaign for the Special Economic Zone in Duqm (SEZD) in the US on Thursday.
The promotional campaign was initiated by an Omani delegation led by H E Yahya bin Said al Jabri, chairman of SEZAD in Houston. The delegation included representatives of Ithraa, Oman Oil Co, Port of Duqm Co and Oman Drydock Co.
The campaign in the US, which builds on the successes made by the campaigns in Japan, South Korea and China, aims at attracting more US investments to the sultanate. The delegation started the campaign by visiting Oxea, a subsidiary of Oman Oil Co and the biggest supplier of oxo chemical products in the world with a capacity of 1.3mn tons per annum.
The meeting, which included officials from the two sides, provided an overview on SEZD and the many projects it hosts. Oxea officials gave presentations on developments witnessed by the company over the past years and its full acquisition by Oman Oil in 2013.
Hilal bin Ali al Kharousi, executive manager at Oman Oil and Oxea board member, said Oxea is one of the most successful companies among Oman Oil’s foreign investment portfolio. He said Oxea complements Oman Oil’s investments in the downstream energy sector as it owns many oxo production technologies.
Kharousi pointed out that Oxea shall play a key role in the investments at Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Co, a joint venture between Oman Oil and Kuwait Petroleum International. “Oxea will develop the plant, provide technology and support the operations and marketing with its rich experience in this field,” he said.
Admiring the success achieved by Oxea, H E Jabri said the company’s training for Oman engineers will contribute to enriching their skills and experience. He also welcomed Oxea’s potential investments in Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Co. The delegation also visited a number of Oxea facilities and reviewed the work and production processes.
