Muscat Gujarati Samaj holds musical concert for visually challenged artists

Muscat Gujarati Samaj, the Gujarati Wing on Indian Social Club Oman, recently organised a unique and enthralling musical concert titled 'Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai' featuring a group of visually challenged artists performing by the band name Black.

The highlight of the event was the scintillating performance put up by each of the nine members of the musical group, which left the music enthusiasts of Oman mesmerised. This was evident from the fact that the entire audience in jam-packed Grand Hall at Al Falaj Hotel stayed glued to their seats right from the start to the end of the show.

The visually impaired artists, singers and musicians sang several melodious songs, one after the other as the crowd went ecstatic, at times shouting slogans of 'once more, once more' and with few of the songs getting a standing ovation from the audi- ence. Such was the charming aura of the band that the audience was left in total trance as to how a group of differently abled individuals could put up such a neatly coordinated event.

The entire programme was seamlessly anchored by Kishor Gohil in his rich baritone voice, as he kept the audience thoroughly captivated by his inspiring stories, each of which culminated in a topical song related to the narration.

Gohil’s anchoring was aptly peppered with witty jokes and shayaris, although he was only able to hear the audiences’ laughter and applause, but could not see their facial expressions of joy. He led the singing group comprising one female and two male singers who in-turn charmed the audience with their talent.

The chief guest for the event was the Ambassador of India to the sultanate, H E Munu Mahawar, who appreciated the activities of Muscat Gujarati Samaj.
