Obesity conference to begin on Oct 20
Muscat - The Ministry of Health, represented by the National Diabetes and Endocrine Centre (NDEC), in collaboration with the Oman Diabetes Association and the US Embassy, will begin the first Oman Obesity Conference on October 20.
The two-day conference will be held under the patronage of H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Obaid al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health, at Crowne Plaza Muscat.
The conference will gather ex- perts and lecturers specialised in the field of obesity treatment and surgery from the sultanate, the US, the UK and France.
Around 200 medical personnel, allied medical healthcare professionals, educator nurses and dieticians from various health institutions across the sultanate’s governorates will attend the conference.
The conference will include a number of scientific sessions along with several lectures and workshops aiming to discuss obesity, diagnosis methods, treatment and latest developments in related researches. In addition, it will highlight the most important results of studies, as well as raising and promoting the efficiency of health workers.
NDEC, along with Oman Diabetes Association, is seeking to achieve the objectives of obesity control by promoting awareness of healthy lifestyle.
