Carrefour Oman expands offering with four new stores across sultanate
Majid al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, has announced its eminent plan to open four new Carrefour outlets in Oman by early 2019.
With a total additional selling area of more than 160,000sq feet, Carrefour will continue to deliver its bespoke shopping experience and customer service offering. The expansion plan includes two new hypermarkets, one in Al Araimi Boulevard and one in Sohar City Centre and two Carrefour Markets in Almanuma and in Sohar’s China Downtown. Carrefour Market introduces the first supermarket format for Carrefour in the sultanate of Oman. The store mainly focuses on a wide range of fresh foods and food items, rather than non-food products. Carrefour Markets are located closer to residential communi- ties to cater to customers’ everyday shopping needs.
Najib Haddad, country man- ager of Carrefour Oman at Majid al Futtaim Retail, said, “We are excited to announce our expan- sion in Oman with the opening of four new stores by early 2019. This enables us to cater to a wider customer base across the sultanate and continue to deliver an unrivalled shopping experi- ence in line with consumers’ evolving lifestyle preferences.”
He added, “We can observe a period of transformation within the Omani retail market, where customers are becoming more convenience oriented. Hence, our strategy for launching supermarkets in Oman is centred around our convenience offering in line with our efforts to create great moments for everyone, everyday. Our two new hypermarkets in Sohar City Centre and Al Araimi Boulevard will offer a wide selection of high quality food and non-food items at the best value for money reflecting on our endeavour to become a market leader in customer satisfaction and experience.”
Carrefour, which entered the Omani market in 2001, currently operates three hypermarkets located in Muscat and one each in Nizwa, Sur, Sohar and Salalah. With the additional four stores, it will operate a total of 12 stores across Oman.
