A group of international sculptors from countries including Romania and Spain will be participating in the Muscat Festival. These international sculptors will be in the country to participate in the Oman International Sculptor Symposium that will be held in Sohar from January 23 to February 8.
“Muscat Festival will showcase the work of international and local sculptors. The last days of the Oman International Sculptor Symposium will be at the festival venue on February 7, 8,” an official with Sohart House, the organisers of the symposium, said.
The artists who will be participating include the famous José Carlos Cabello from Spain, Abdul Karim al Rawahi and Yusuf al Rawahi from Oman, Ana Maria Negara from Romania, Renato Brunello and Stefano Sabetta from Italy.
“We will have four international and two local sculptors who will be exhibiting their works in wood and marble. Five artworks will be in marble only. Our aim is to boost the artistic movement in the sultanate.
It will also be a chance to not just exchange expertise in the field but also strengthen bonds between the sultanate’s sculptors and those from abroad,” he said adding, “Muscat Festival has a huge footfall and this is the best opportunity to count on. Many might be interested to take this up as a career.”
Muscat Municipality has said that special activities and events will be held to cater to the taste of various community segments. The main venues will be Amerat Park and Naseem Gardens.
