Duqm Airport set to officially open today, says MoTC
It has an estimated capacity of half a million passengers a year with the potential to expand to 2mn passengers a year
The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) will officially declare open the Duqm Airport on Monday under the patronage of H E Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior.
The airport occupies a total area of 27,386sq m and has an estimated capacity of half a million passengers a year with the potential to expand to increase it to 2mn a year.
The airport includes a passenger building on an area of 9,614sq m. It also includes an air navigation complex, a 38m air traffic control tower, an air cargo terminal with an area of 9,958sq m, a capacity of 25,000 tonnes per year, 4km length and 75m wide runway, with connecting lanes and parking area for four aircraft, including the Airbus A380, as well as other facilities.
Flight operations at the airport began in September 2018.
