Duqm Air­port set to of­fi­cially open to­day, says MoTC

The Min­istry of Trans­port and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions (MoTC) will of­fi­cially de­clare open the Duqm Air­port on Mon­day un­der the pa­tron­age of H E Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Bu­saidi, Min­is­ter of In­te­rior.

The air­port oc­cu­pies a to­tal area of 27,386sq m and has an es­ti­mated ca­pac­ity of half a mil­lion pas­sen­gers a year with the po­ten­tial to ex­pand to in­crease it to 2mn a year.

The air­port in­cludes a pas­sen­ger build­ing on an area of 9,614sq m. It also in­cludes an air nav­i­ga­tion com­plex, a 38m air traf­fic con­trol tower, an air cargo ter­mi­nal with an area of 9,958sq m, a ca­pac­ity of 25,000 tonnes per year, 4km length and 75m wide run­way, with con­nect­ing lanes and park­ing area for four air­craft, in­clud­ing the Air­bus A380, as well as other fa­cil­i­ties.

Flight op­er­a­tions at the air­port be­gan in Sep­tem­ber 2018.
