2019 Korea Week events to be held from Nov 6-9
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea will be organising a cultural festival titled, ‘2019 Korea Week’ from November 6 to 9.
During the 2019 Korea Week, a variety of culture and sports events will be presented to thank the long-cherished friendship between Oman and Korea.
The festival will include: Korea Music & Dance Night; Korea Movie Nights, and the third Takedown Competition for Ambassador’s trophy.
Entry to the events is free.
Korea Music and Dance Night
Young and talented Korean musicians will present splendid traditional music through unique musical instruments of Korea such as ‘Garageman’, a string instrument with 12 strings, and ‘Pirri’, a doublereed instrument.
These Korean instruments will present oriental and enchanting melody of Korean traditional music and also reinterpret the world-famous pops with exotic sound hardly heard of.
A Korean pop singer will fascinate audience with various Korean songs ranging from classic to latest K-pops including a hit song of BTS, a leading K-Pop boy band beloved all over the world.
The event will also see a traditional Korean dance. The event will be held at Bait al Zubair Museum on November 6 at 7.30pm.
Korea Movie Nights
Two popular Korean movies will be screened: How to Steal a Dog and My Brilliant Life.
How to Steal a Dog is about a young girl who believes that she can make enough money to buy a house for her family by finding missing dogs.
The second movie, My Brilliant Life is about a young couple with a 17 year old boy suffering from a rare genetic disorder.
It makes the child look like an aged man. His chronological age is 17, but his body is almost the same as an 80 year old man.
The shows will be held at 7.30pm on November 7, 8 at Vox Cinema, MGM.
Taekwondo Competition
The Embassy and the Oman Taekwondo Committee will cohost the third Taekwondo Competition.
The event will be held on November 8, 9 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex (Main Hall) from 9am-6pm.
The opening ceremony will be held on November 9 from 11.30am to 12.30pm during which there will be a special Taekwondo demonstration.
