-

South Africa flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit was named World Rugby Player of the Year on Sunday as the World Cup-winning Springboks swept the main awards. Rassie Erasmus won coach of the year and South Africa also took the team award at a glittering ceremony in Tokyo, a day after it lifted the Webb Ellis Cup for the third time. The women's player of the year award went to Emily Scarratt, the 29 year old centre who helped England to a Grand Slam in the women's Six Nations.

Soyuncu, Vardy lift Leicester up to third spot in EPL

Leicester moved up to third in the English Premier League (EPL) as the Foxes fine form continued with a hard-fought 2-0 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday, thanks to second half goals from Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy. Soyuncu's stooping header from James Maddison's corner just before the hour mark made the breakthrough and Vardy's hot streak continued when he finished off an excellent team move two minutes from time. Leicester edged ahead of Chelsea on goal difference and is six points clear of fifthplaced Arsenal. Earlier on Saturday, Chelsea won 2-1 at lowly Watford.

Real Madrid held to draw by Real Betis

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid each passed up the chance to go top of Spanish League on Saturday after Barcelona suffered a 1-3 defeat by Levante. Atletico and Sevilla played out a 1-1 draw at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, where Diego Costa missed a penalty, before Real squandered a string of opportunities at the Santiago Bernabeu in a goalless draw against Real Betis. It means Barca will stay at the summit - ahead of Atletico by a point with a game in hand and in front of Real on goal difference. Other results: Saturday:
