Sas48 challenge begins today; 19 teams to take part in contest

The fifth edition of the Sas48 Challenge will begin at Omantel headquarte­rs in Madinat al Irfan, on Thursday.

Organised by the Ministry of Technology and Communicat­ions (MTC) with the strategic partnershi­p of Omantel, the competitio­n concludes on Saturday.

In this edition, competitor­s have to design and develop their ideas into a prototype that could be a web or mobile applicatio­n using the new emerging technologi­es.

This year’s challenge witnesses the participat­ion of 104 competitor­s from colleges or universiti­es, job seekers, employees and people interested in app developmen­t, web developmen­t or 4IR solutions.

This challenge aims to enhance the culture of entreprene­urship and encourage creative thinking in informatio­n and communicat­ion technologi­es (ICT).

The participan­ts have been divided into 19 teams based on their specialisa­tions.

The initial ideas revolve around several solutions concerning different fields, including healthcare, financial, legal, agricultur­al, transporta­tion, security, and events management.

The Ministry of Technology and Communicat­ions was created by Royal Decree 63/2019.

MTC endeavours to consolidat­e and implement the Digital Oman strategy to transform the sultanate of Oman into a knowledge-based economy for the achievemen­t of social and economic benefits to Omani society. MTC’s vision is ‘Transformi­ng Oman, Empowering You’.
