ISC Urdu Wing International Mushaira to be held tomorrow

The much -awaited annual Urdu Wing International Mushaira will be held at Oman Auditorium, Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Friday November 15. The event organised by Urdu Wing of Indian Social Club Oman (ISC) is very popular among poetry lovers of both Urdu and Hindi knowing people.

Shahab Rizvi, the convener of Urdu Wing, said that top international poets from India have been invited to recite at the forthcoming Mushaira. Urdu Wing has the right cultural and organisational expertise to bring an event of this stature to the audience in Oman, he added.

Tufail Ahmad, co-convener of Urdu Wing, said that Urdu Wing has been organising International Mushaira every year which has played an important role in promoting poetry and culture. Dr Gauher Naqvi, cultural head of Urdu Wing, said, “Urdu poetry has been the instrumental in bringing inter-faith harmony and served as a bridge between different communities. This mushaira is going to strengthen the relationship.”

An array of renowned international poets have been invited for this episode of mushaira which include Prof Waseem Barelvi known for his exemplary work on Urdu poetry; Iqbal Ashher, a highly celebrated poet, Dr Nusrat Mehdi, a poet and chairman of Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy, Rajesh Reddy, a much admired poet from Deccan, Mansoor Usmani, an acclaimed anchor, Muzaffar Abdali, an IAS officer and well known poet, Siya Sachdeva, a prominent feminist voice in mushair, Saleem Amrohi, a highly popular voice in mushaira and TV shows and Afroz Alam, highly revered poet.

The gate will be open from 6.30pm. Entry is free.
