ISG cel­e­brates 49th Na­tional Day of Oman

In­dian School Ghubra (ISG) cel­e­brated the 49th Na­tional Day of Oman with great ex­cite­ment. The school premises were adorned with the colours of the Omani flag. The fes­toons and bal­loons and smiles on the faces of the stu­dents and staff made it known to ev­ery­one that the day was very spe­cial. The staff and stu­dents were seen ex­chang­ing greet­ings, spreading cheer all around.

A spe­cial assem­bly con­ducted, be­gan with the singing of the Royal An­them of Oman led by the Omani staff. The com­pere Hana Haris of class 10 dressed in tra­di­tional at­tire, wel­comed the gath­er­ing in Ara­bic and English. Aye­sha Taraf­dar and Farah Gaya­sud­din of class 10 spoke of the gi­ant strides of progress made by the sul­tanate in all fields of hu­man en­deav­our in the last 49 years.

A video pre­sen­ta­tion show­cased the many land­marks and at­trac­tions of Oman while high­light­ing the Omani way of life. Avan­tika Arvind of class 10 led the stu­dents of class 6 in a song sung in praise of His Majesty Sul­tan Qa­boos bin Said, which was thor­oughly en­joyed by the au­di­ence.

Quizzing seg­ment was ded­i­cated to test­ing the stu­dents’ knowl­edge of Oman. The dance per­formed by the boys of class 6, at­tired in the na­tional dress, twirling their staffs to rhyth­mic mu­sic cap­tured the at­ten­tion of the au­di­ence. The girls in at­trac­tive cos­tumes of red, green and white also per­formed a cap­ti­vat­ing dance.

The prin­ci­pal pre­sented me­men­tos to the Omani staff of the school while the stu­dents cheered en­thu­si­as­ti­cally. In her ad­dress, she greeted her Omani col­leagues on this spe­cial day and said that she looked for­ward to the next year’s cel­e­bra­tions when Oman would reach the land­mark of 50 years. She re­quested the chil­dren to pray for the long and healthy life of His Majesty Sul­tan Qa­boos bin Said.

She said that as many of the stu­dents are born and brought up here, they con­sider Oman their home­land. She con­cluded her ad­dress by lead­ing the cheer for His Majesty the Sul­tan. The cel­e­bra­tions con­tin­ued with a lav­ish spread of tra­di­tional Omani cui­sine ar­ranged for by the Omani staff. The fes­tive spirit con­tin­ued through­out the day.
