-

NMC Specialty Hospital Ruwi had the pleasure of bringing the first NMC baby of the National Day 2019 into world, “at the stroke of midnight”.

The baby boy was born at exactly two seconds past 12 midnight and came in weighing 3.27kg, said Ranjith Kumar, head - Operations.

“The couple were delighted with the birth of their first baby on the National Day, who has been due on the next day. We’re all delighted here. It’s very good news,” he added.

“This is a new experience,” said the smiling mother, Meenu Sharma.

“It is a special boy for a special day. We are blessed and lucky. We are blessed to receive such a wonderful surprise on this day. I had never imagined that my baby’s birth would coincide with National Day of the first year of our arrival itself.”

“We have been residents of the sultanate for just seven months and it is an incredible feeling to have a baby on this day and I feel so fortunate,” baby’s father, Suman Kumar said.

“National Day means a lot to all the residents of Oman and we hope that our child has the qualities of the people of Oman – humble, polite and generous in nature.

“The prompt services and care provided to us at NMC Hospital is incomparable. I feel very happy and honoured. National Day will be another significant day to look forward to.”

Dr Maheswary Rajalingam, who conducted the delivery was also delighted. “I am really happy to conduct the delivery at the dawn of National Day and both mother and baby are doing good,” Dr Maheswary said.

Staff at the hospital said that National Day celebrations had added a special festive element to the welcoming of the baby.
