More than 3,000 twin pairs joined hands in the first-ever twins gathering in Oman at the Oman Automobile Association (OAA) on Friday evening.
H H Hatim bin Turki al Said and H H Dr Rawnaq bin Turki al Said, twins by themselves, were the chief guests for the function, which coincided with the 49th National Day celebrations.
The chief guests expressed their happiness on being part of the event.
“We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The organisers have made it really attractive,” said H H Hatim and H H Dr Rawnaq, who opened the event by releasing pigeons into the skies.
The ’Twins Gathering’ was organised by Omani Business Services Centre (Tasaheel) in coordination with the OAA. The gathering also included triplets and quadruplets.
Eng Mohammed al Balushi, CEO of Tasaheel, said he was impressed with the participation.
“As organisers we are thoroughly impressed with the participation of the families and children. We want to make this an annual event, coinciding with the National Day celebrations,” Eng Balushi said.
He added that the open air venue at the OAA gave it altogether a different experience.
Twins from other GCC nations and residents in Oman were also part of the show.
Different stalls were available at the venue which ranged from painting to bird exhibitions.
Cultural events, dance, entertainment and fashion shows were staged at the main stage while the second stage saw presentation of folklore, children’s performances, discussions and interactive sessions.
Game pavilions attracted the children while food court catered to all at the venue.
Ali Khalfan Salim and Turkiya Saif Saud were happy for their nine year old twin daughters Mohara and Meera.
“We are really excited along with our daughters to attend this great event,” Salim said.
