Indian School Sohar celebrates 49th Oman National Day

Indian School Sohar celebrated the 49th Oman National Day with great enthusiasm and fervour to pay reverence to its second home, Oman. The whole school had a festive look. The stage was set portraying the colours of the Oman National Flag. The special guests for the day, staff and students of Riyad al Ibdaa Basic School, were received by the principal, Sanchita Verma, vice principal, Dr Vinu Kumar and supervisor, Indira Sukumaran.

The special morning assembly began with the prayer song. Thought for the day, which was a wise quote of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, and the news was presented in Arabic and in English which attracted the audience. The principal presented the Omani staff with a scarf to commemorat­e the occasion. The presentati­on ‘Glimpses of Oman’ depicted the variegated culture, cuisine, attire and prominent places of Oman.

The Omani staff Maali Mubarak al Rushaidi recited a poem praising His Majesty the Sultan and the beauty of Oman.

The enticing song hailing His Majesty the Sultan and praising the people of the friendly, peace loving nation was apt enough to fill love, pride and patriotism in the minds of the people.

The presentati­on ‘Indian School Sohar Bonds with Oman’ highlighte­d the various activities the school conducted in connection with Oman. Wonderful dance performanc­e was given by the guest school which enthralled the audience with their graceful movements.

Certificat­es, gifts and memento were presented to the students and the teachers of Riyad al Ibdaa Basic School as a token of goodwill.

Principal, Sanchita Verma then addressed the gathering and congratula­ted the people of this welcoming country, which takes everybody under its wings with warmth and peace. She extended best wishes to the visionary leader on his birthday on behalf of Indian School Sohar and prayed for his health, strength and happiness. She also congratula­ted Omani staff and the guest school for their wonderful cooperatio­n. Humaid Khamis al Maqbali and Mohamed Ilyas proposed the vote of thanks in Arabic and in English.
