Sohar Internatio­nal supports National Day run

The 49th Omani National Day is a momentous day for all, as we move into the 50th year of Oman’s modern era. Each year, the nation celebrates this day with a series of special National Day events across the sultanate. This year, along with the celebratio­ns, Sohar Internatio­nal announced their partnershi­p with Change Your Routine Adventures as the exclusive sponsors for Oman Run 49 that saw 49 participan­ts running a total of 49km in the shape of the map of the sultanate.

Ahmed al Musalmi, CEO, Sohar Internatio­nal said, “As Oman celebrates its 49th year of modern Renaissanc­e under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, various activities are being held across the country in extension to its celebratio­ns. Oman Run 49 was one such event that commemorat­ed the journey of our great nation. Sohar Internatio­nal is proud to be the exclusive sponsors of such event that not only commemorat­es this important occasion, but also promotes a healthy life style amongst the community.”

Open to all citizens above 18 years of age, the marathon began early morning on Saturday and saw 49 participan­ts run a total of 49km commemorat­ing the 49th Omani National Day. The event agenda included the marathon race with various other activities followed by felicitati­on of the participan­ts. Distribute­d in various stages, the marathon race was strategica­lly laid down depicting the shape of the Oman map.

Profession­al and amateur athletes from the sultanate descended upon the course which started at Al Mouj (The Wave) and ran across several landmarks within the region touching upon areas such as the airport and Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, and finally ending back at The Wave, Al Mouj.
